Kalahari Crossing Safari

Join our team on a Kalahari Crossing Safari and explore the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park. The Kalahari is one of the largest conservation regions in the world. This is a semi-desert region with distinctive red sand-dunes. The Park is a cross-border conservation initiative with South Africa and Botswana. It is from South Africa and neighbouring Namibia and Botswana.

Our Kalahari Crossing Safari aims to discover the well-known predators and raptors of the Kalahari. The park consists of two main roads along the dry river beds. The two paths are connected with dune roads from east to west. The watering holes are along these riverbeds. The Nossob River in the south and the Auob river are on top of bedrock with shallow water level boreholes.

Our Kalahari Crossing Safari will focus on game drives along the riverbeds and waterholes. As a result of the hot temperatures in the summer months, the animals save their energy during the day's heat. These months are known for ongoing nocturnal activities, especially during the cooler nights.  The dry months are challenging, and the animals tend to focus their territories close to the watering holes.

What sets the Kalahari Crossing Safari Apart?

The Kalahari lions are unique with their black-maned appearance. The Kalahari is home to a large number of predators. The most common predators are lions, cheetahs, leopards, and hyenas. There are two species of hyena in the park. The well-known spotted hyena, along with the very nocturnal brown hyena. Along the riverbeds are large Acacia trees. These trees are the perfect habitat for breeding raptors and resting predators. The rainy season brings a well-deserved relief from the semi-desert heat. When the rainy season starts in the Kalahari, you can also see a large gathering of antelope herds.

The best way of viewing animals in the Kalahari is to take it slow and focus on some watering holes.
