Namaqua National Park – Hondeklipbaai

We will seize the day with an early wake-up and a hearty breakfast. We are close to the entry point of the Namaqua Park. Our route for the day is the beginning of the Diamond Coast 4×4 Coastal trail. We will follow two spoor sand roads along some of the most pristine beaches in South Africa. There is a variety of succulents, mammals, and birds along this path. It is not uncommon to find a pair of ostriches on the beach or a crossing duiker. In general, there are few places with such a natural beauty and plant diversity in the World, not to mention that you might be driving 4 meters from the Atlantic ocean. Our lunch will be a picnic-style affair overlooking the mighty Atlantic. We continue our Namaqua safari in search of the smallest tortoise, namely the Namaqua Speckled Padloper. This is a full day of adventure along the wild West Coast of Namaqualand. Our day will end with a visit to some of the oldest caves where the first humankind lived years ago. The grand finale will be sundowner drinks in Hondeklipbaai and a hearty home-cooked meal at a local eatery. We will be staying in Hondeklipbaai the for the next two nights. Hondeklipbaai is an excellent fishing community with some known hidden treasures. The brave can endure a quick swim in the cold Atlantic. All is within walking distance!
