Join the Diamond Coast Route Safari this season while staying at The Growcery Campsite. Namaqualand is well known for the wildflowers in springtime and the Richtersveld for its indigenous succulents and rugged rock formations. Why not combine it all with the different flowers, 4×4 tracks, and shipwrecks of the wild West Coast!
This part of the Northern Cape is untouched and still very traditional. Discover the culture of the local people and explore the open roads and scenic mountain passes. Our Diamond Coast Route safari explores the hidden treasures of Namaqualand.

Day 1,2 |
The Growcery Camp – Vioolsdrift – Orange RiverWe will meet our guest at The Growcery Camp, a mere 22 km from the Vioolsdrift border post. We recommend that you check-in is no later than 5 pm at Camp. This evening will be spent around the campfire discussing the final arrangements of our Diamond Coast Route Safari. You can enjoy the star-studded, unpolluted night skies of the Richtersveld. The following morning will embark on a river trail and experience the flow of the Orange River. You can expect entry-level rapids, and no experience is needed to partake on this trip. You can expect great rock formations and excellent Birdlife. Lunch will be served in a picnic-style with some fresh herbs and produce from our gardens. After a day of excitement and adventure, we will have some time off this afternoon to relax and make final preparations for our safari. The evening will start with a sundowner on a nearby lookout point—an excellent way to end an adventurous day in the Richtersveld. Accommodation: The Growcery Camp |
Day 3,4 |
Richtersveld – Port Nolloth – NoupWe will seize the day with an early wake-up. Our Diamond Coast Route safari will start with a visit to the Nababeep Conservancy on the route towards Eksteensfontein. We explore the indigenous succulents and rock formations of the Richtersveld. After Crossing Hell's Kloof, we pass the local Nama community of Eksteensfontein. This Pass connects with one of the most scenic routes towards the Diamond Mining Town of Port Nolloth. Port Nolloth will be our lunch stop, and we will pay a visit to the local museum to get some insight into the Diamond Mining Industry of Namaqualand and the West Coast. After our hearty lunch, we will pass through Kleinzee and experience the semi-ghost mining town before arriving at Noup. Noup is the old diamond divers camp and situated on the coast. It is also the starting point of our Shipwreck Trail. Accommodation: Noup Lodge |
Day 5,6 |
Hondeklipbaai – Namaqua National Park.We have but a short distance to travel today. We take our time and enjoy our freshly prepared breakfast before departing past Koiingnaas, an active Diamond Mine. Our destination is Hondeklipbaai. We will be staying here for the next two nights. We have ample time to discover some more shipwrecks and embark on the coastal 4×4 route in Namaqua Park. |
Day 7 |
Hondeklipbaai – Springbok – The Growcery Camp.The Final Leg of our safari will take us back to our starting point, the Growcery Camp. After an early rise and steady breakfast, we will select one of the scenic mountains that pass back towards the town of Springbok. In Springbok, we will say our goodbyes to our self-drive travellers before continuing towards The Growcery Camp. |
