The 3-Day Orange River Rafting is the ideal getaway. You will have enough time to enjoy the magic of the river over a long weekend. This trail aims to aim maximum relaxation and does not focus on paddling distance along the orange river. It is more of a glamping experience with a night in the wild. We use the Growcery base camp, and from here, you can enjoy the 3-day orange river rafting is floating relaxing package on the river.
On this adventure, you will experience the beautiful Orange River while paddling an inflatable raft. You will be led by an experienced guide who will also prepare tasty meals over an open bush fire.
The river is full of surprises, including exciting rapids and stunning mountain scenery. See if you can experience the amazing moment when the sun sets on one side and the moon rises on the other. This 3-day trial is pure floating, relaxing, and enjoying the region. If it is more of an adventurous paddle that you seek, then this is not the trip for you. If it is to escape and relax, then you are on the right track.
At night, we will camp on the banks of the river and enjoy star-gazing. Tents are optional! After a day on the river, dinner always tastes amazing.

Day 1: Your adventure starts upon arrival at the Growcery Camp. This evening you will meet your team and introduce what to expect the following days of your visit. We enjoy a home-cooked meal and open fires this evening.
Day 2: After a hearty breakfast, we will depart and travel upstream for anything between 15 – 25km, depending on the water levels. This is a full day on the river, paddling, swimming, rock jumping, birding, and relaxing. We will pass some of the local farms and geological formations along our way. It is perfect for the whole family, and no experience is of importance on this adventure. Lunch will be on the river banks, and our final destination is back at the Growcery camp this evening. Dinner will be back at camp and our preparations for the next day is around our campfire.
Day 3: We start our day with tea, coffee, and rusks. It is early morning, and straight after, we will go on a 2-3 hour hiking trail in the nearby mountains—the perfect way to start your day. Upon return, a brunch awaits us at camp and then some leisure time before we head off on our overnight experience and sleeping in the wild. This afternoon we pack our overnight gear, and after a short 3-5km paddle, we'll find our overnight spot for the evening—perfect views of the Richtersveld and a great evening to sleep under the stars. It is an evening of stargazing, open-air sleeping, and campfires.
Day 4: We will take our sweet time and return to base camp before lunch—a great time for bird watching and relaxing while taking in the splendour of the river.
The Orange River is graded as level 1 – 3 in difficulty making it suitable for beginners. The River is a pool drop river, which means there is always a pool after every rapid.
The Richtersveld is home to goat herders trekking through the endless desert mountains. This is a unique sight in South Africa, as it is the last place where you still find traditional nomadic herders.
Our base camp, The Growcery, is 22km from the border post inside South Africa. Our Adventure will start in South Africa and end in Namibia. We will then be transported back through Namibia and over the Border back to the Growcery Camp.

The Growcery Camp We meet all our river paddlers at The Growcery Camp no later than 5 pm on day 1. Please notify the camp of any late arrivals. This evening will be an introduction to your river crew and a final briefing on the adventure that awaits us. We serve our fresh meals around open fires. The Growcery Camp – Orange River Our River adventure starts with a scrumptious breakfast this morning. Our guides will brief all our paddlers on how to pack personals for their two-person inflatable rafts. We leave all our vehicles and mobile devices safely at base camp and start our adventure anything from 8:30 – 9:30 this morning. We depart camp with our transfer vehicle and head upstream for 15 – 25km. This will depend on the water levels. The Day is spent at leisure floating, swimming, relaxing, paddling, rock jumping and enjoying a picnic-style lunch. We have the whole day to get back to our base camp, and enjoyment is at the order of the day. This evening we will be sleeping back at base camp. The Growcery Camp – Orange River – sleeping in the wild We enjoy early morning rusks, coffee, and tea during an early wake-up call before embarking on a hiking trail. When we return, we will enjoy a hearty brunch and have some leisure time to relax. Early afternoon we pack our rafts and get ready for our camp in the wild experience. This afternoon includes a short paddle to our overnight location and the perfect place to sleep under the stars.
